Who we are: We are an organization through the collaborative efforts of the community and Ralls Independent School District. We are beginning our fourth year of operation.During the first three years, the EDGE was funded by a federal grant from the Safe and Drug-free Schools, Department of Education. Beginning the 2008-2009 school year, the EDGE, Ralls ISD Mentoring Program will be funded by Ralls Independent School District, donors, other grants, and fundraisers.
Mission: We are dedicated to providing at-risk youth with the support and resources that will help them develop into productive, responsible, and successful citizens focusing on consistent, long-term, well-supervised relationships with adults that can yield a wide range of tangible benefits for the community.
Our Key Objectives:
• Recruit, train, and maintain community volunteers who will serve as mentors to at-risk youth
• Improve students academic achievement
• Strengthen school bonding
• Promoting pro-social norms and behaviors
• Providing opportunities for job training and post-secondary education
Our Programs:
1) School-Based One to One Mentoring at the elementary and middle school campuses
2) After-School Small Group Mentoring called "Crew Classes"
